THE DETAILS BEHIND YOUR PLAN
Study and application requirements
Open the topic that matters to you. Let’s work through your questions together.
Find the right study route
Compare Chinese universities with international joint institutions. XJTLU in Suzhou teaches its degree programmes in English and offers undergraduate degrees from XJTLU and the University of Liverpool. Check the chosen degree, campus and recognition requirements in the country where you plan to work.
Language and entry requirements
Requirements are programme-specific. Zhejiang’s 2026 undergraduate guide requires Chinese-language evidence for Chinese-taught routes, English evidence for English-taught routes, and a valid CSCA report for 2026/27 entry. Prepare school records, passport and certified translations; check the next intake’s subject and test rules before booking exams.
Plan your intake
For most XJTLU undergraduate programmes, the published deadline for September 2027 entry is 31 May 2027; Year Three transfer applications close on 30 April. Other institutions set their own calendars. Allow time for translations, language results, scholarship assessment and visa processing.
Build a realistic budget
Published rates checked in September 2026: XJTLU international undergraduate tuition is RMB 99,000 per academic year. Its Taicang accommodation lists a twin-room bed at RMB 6,000 per academic year, subject to availability. Add food, utilities, deposits, insurance and travel; these are institution-specific examples, not China-wide prices.
Explore scholarship opportunities
XJTLU’s competitive entry scholarship can cover up to 50% of annual tuition, with renewal linked to performance. Published rounds run from 30 November 2026 to 30 April 2027. Government and university scholarships have separate eligibility rules; confirm what each award covers before making financial commitments.
Prepare your visa and arrival
China’s August 2026 guidance distinguishes X1 study visas for stays over 180 days from X2 visas for shorter study. X1 holders must apply for residence permission within 30 days of entry. Follow your consulate’s document list and secure accommodation through the university before travel.
Work experience and next steps
Off-campus part-time work or internships require university approval and the relevant endorsement on a student residence permit. Student status alone is not permission to work. After graduation, check the appropriate employment or other residence route with the authorities; do not budget on guaranteed local earnings.
Your questions, answered
Can I study without already speaking Chinese?
English-taught routes are available, including XJTLU degrees. Check accepted English tests and any programme-specific requirements. Learning some Mandarin can still help with daily life and local opportunities.
Are scholarships automatic with an offer?
No. XJTLU entry scholarships are competitive and require applicants to indicate interest and submit sufficient documents by the relevant round. An admission offer and a scholarship decision are separate.
